Beaches

Cabo San Lucas
Lovers Beach (Playa del Amor): Location: Behind the arch in Cabo San Lucas between the Sea of Cortés and the Pacific Ocean. A must for anyone visiting Los Cabos. Breathtakingly beautiful Lovers Beach spans the Pacific Ocean and Cabo San Lucas Bay. Swim and snorkel only on the Sea of Cortés side. No services other than beach vendors. Access: By water taxi or glass bottom boat from the CSL marina or Médano Beach.

Médano Beach (Playa El Médano): Location: On Cabo San Lucas Bay. Cabo’s main beach, with safe swimming. Great for families with lots of watersports and beach restaurants and bars. Access: Through any of the hotels or restaurants from Marina Fiesta Resort to Club Cascadas. Drive via Paseo del Pescador. Parking is limited, take a taxi for less stress!

Solmar Beach (Playa Solmar): Location: In front of Solmar, Terrasol, Playa Grande and Finisterra hotels on the Pacific Ocean side of Cabo San Lucas. Great for strolling and sunset watching with hotel oceanfront restaurants and bars. NOT for swimming or watersports. Access: Through any of the hotels along the beach via Avenida Solmar off Blvd. Marina.

Tourist Corridor

Widows Beach (Playa Las Viudas): Location: Via the gated entrance on the South West side of the Twin Dolphin Hotel. Great tidal pools and swimming with caution. No services. Access: Km. 12.5, take the road to right of the hotel entrance and drive or walk in.

Santa María Bay (Bahía Santa María): Location: Just east of the Hotel Twin Dolphin. A must-see beach. Popular with snorkel tour cruises. Horseshoe-shaped and small, Santa María is a protected marine sanctuary, and an excellent spot for snorkeling and swimming. Great for families. No services. Access: Km. 13, look for the beach access sign and follow the dirt road to the parking area.

Chileno Bay: Location: With excellent swimming, snorkeling and diving on the reef, family-friendly Chileno is long and flat with a palm grove for shade. Go southwest over the rocks for more privacy. Popular with snorkel cruises midday. Restrooms. Access: Look for the signed parking lot at Km. 14.5.

Tequila Cove (Playa Bledito): Location: At the Cabo Real Resort, in front of the Hilton and Meliá Cabo Real hotels. A man-made jetty provides an area for swimming and water sports. Watercraft rentals are in front of Melía Cabo Real. Lots of palapas for shade. Services only at the hotels. Access: Km. 19.5 at Cabo Real, through the Meliá Cabo Real or Hilton hotels, or walk in from the arroyo at Casa del Mar.

Palmilla Beach (Playa Palmilla): Location: At the Palmilla resort, running from Caleta to the One&Only Palmilla hotel. The best swimming beach near San José del Cabo. This beautiful, long crescent-shaped beach has safe swimming and fair snorkeling near the hotel. Watch the fishermen return with their catch in the early p.m. Good family beach with shade palapas. No services. Access: Km. 27, follow the signs through Palmilla down to the arroyo.

San José del Cabo

Blue Coast Beach (Playa Costa Azul): Location: Between the lookout (El Mirador) at Km. 27.5 and Hotel Beach (Playa Hotelera) in SJD. World famous surfing beach, with Zippers and La Roca breaks. Swim with caution. Services include Zipper’s Restaurant, a mini market, surf shop and board rentals. A few shade palapas. Access: Km. 28 at Costa Azul bridge (Puente Costa Azul). Go under the bridge through the arroyo.

Hotel Beach (Playa Hotelera): Location: San José’s beachfront hotel zone. A long, wide beach running from Costa Azul to the San José estuary next to the Hotel Presidente. Great for walking, jogging, horseback riding and surf fishing. Swimming is risky. Shade palapas front most of the hotels. The Los Cabos Municipal Sea Turtle Program’s nursery is next to the estuary. Services at the hotels. Access: Through any of the hotels and resorts, open spaces, or marked beach accesses (acceso al playa) on Paseo San José.
